Can't load any other patches

OP-X

Can load all patches of the higher level OP-X (they share the same patches format)

OP-X

Can load and edit the patches of the lower lever OP-X PLAYER (they share the same patches format)

OP-X PRO

Can't load the lower version OP-X patches directly, but the OP-X PRO library contains all lower version OP-X patches converted to OP-X PRO format. They will also sound exactly the same as in OP-X. The many additional patches (200) make use of the extended features.

OP-X PRO, OP-X PRO-II

Can load all former OP-X PRO patches and process them with the new features (e.g. add effects, arpeggiate, refine detuning settings, increase polyphony etc.). Pretty much all former patches included. Library completely overhauled and newly organized with tons of new sounds.

Why buy
You want to try out and use the separate voice design synthesis without any budget. OP-X FREE gives you a small selection of great original OP-X sounds for free. If you need more sounds and automation you can upgrade to OP-X PLAYER for a very cheap price which will give you instant access to the whole OP-X library containing more than 500 of the finest patches.
You are looking for the cheapest way to play and use all those great OP-X sounds. You are more of a preset user and hardly ever do any deep editing or create own patches from scratch. You are looking for a great sounding general purpose collection of classic analog sounds of the highest available quality. OP-X PLAYER gives you one of the greatest sounding and most useful set of analog sounds available which covers all classic genres from Obie over Minimoog, Prophet, Jupiter, Strings, Brasses, Solos, Basses, fully extendable with masses of existing and coming new sounds from the OP-X library at no additional cost (500 patches included). If you want to get access to all parameters you can upgrade to OP-X for a cheap price.
You are looking for an omnipotent classic polyphonic analog synth that can do the typical OB-X sounds, but also Jupiter, Prophet, Minimoog and many other ones that really have the richness and organic feeling of the originals without using any effects, all of them tweakable on a great looking and intuitive user interface. OP-X will deliver. It's one of the most flexible virtual analogsynths available that can do almoust all known classic analog sounds, no matter what brand, huge, innocent, fat, soft, warm, aggressive or clear. The patches library contains more than 500 ready to play sounds which are said to be one of the greatest and most authentic sounding available. The graphical user interface can be completely remote controlled with parameter feedback which makes it possible to use OP-X like a real analog hardware synth without the need of a computer mouse.
You like the sound of OP-X but are curious for even more features and modulation possibilities and are looking for complex XPander and SEM sounds that make use of multimode filtering. OP-X PRO gives you a great sounding dual multimode filter derived from the old SEM which allows continuous blending of modes and filter mix. You also want to have more control over the default detuning by tweaking it by yourself. OP-X PRO gives you a lot of virtual trimpots for this that allow to set up you own custom tunings. New interesting modulation options like the unique panning modulation give some extra salt and makes the patches take off. All this combined gives a tremendous and almoust endless potential for never heard sounds with an uparalleled deepness and richness. The patches library contains all former OP-X sounds ready for further tweaking and masses of new ones using the new features. As an owner of the lower version OP-X you can get OP-X PRO for a very cheap upgrade price.
You have a modern computer, don't care much about spending a few more dollars and simply want the best and most powerful available. You're a live musician and look for a self-contained solution offering its own effects and patch browser so that a simple no-overhead vst host is sufficient to run the plugin. You're out for extremely broad and lush pads and strings that profitate from the doubled polyphony and linear amp envelope option. You generally like to have more options in several areas like LFO, pitchbend, modulation and envelopes to fit your needs. You like it comfortable and so appreciate all the little helpers for quick calibration, panning control and other functions. You're already familiar with the separate voice design and want to have even more detailed control over detunings, voices, levels and so on. You love it to play one-finger chord lines. You want to have a really powerful arpeggiator to explore new levels of performance. You want to have access to a huge library of ready to play sounds. You want to have one of the biggest and most authentic sounding libraries of famous 80ies sounds and famous classic analog synths. These all could be reasons to decide on OP-X PRO-II :-)
