How do the 4 offered versions differentiate?
OP-X PRO-3
Compared to the former OP-X PRO-II improved oversampled engine featuring a smoother more "polished" sound which also can go brighter.
It's not that big a difference at first glance since we tried to preserve the beloved warm and fat sound character of OP-X PRO-II using
clever filtering, but the differences and quality-boost will get obvious in some "critical" applications like sync sweeps, LFO vibrato
and slow portamento in brighter settings.
CPU use about 2.3 times OP-X PRO-II which still is fairly low for today's standards and still allows to work with multiple instances np
in modern computers
OP-X PRO-3 ECO
This version features the 100% original sound of OP-X PRO-II (so the same patches will souns identical) at only about half
the CPU use of the max CPU version described above - but still offering all the tons of new features (like modulation matrix. additiopnal
LFOs and ENVs, as well as modulation effects, and of course the new interface), except for the MAX brightness mode which misses here. This
version can be of interest either for people who always
loved the sound of OP-X PRO-II but want to have all the new features on top, or of course also for environments where the CPU power is
limited like older core2duo or even Celeron laptops.
CPU use just about 1.2 times OP-X PRO-II which is very low
OP-X PRO-3 LC
This cut-down version only is of interest if you urgently need even lower CPU use but still want to profitate from the new GUI and presets
system and also still some added features like the modulation effects and the added pitch envelope. This version misses the modulation
matrix and the two added lopass filter types. For compatibility reasons this version still installs with the full library also featuring all
the new mod-matrix presets. It simply won't do all the mod-matrix and new filter stuff.
CPU use about the same as OP-X PRO-II
OP-MTX
This is a clone of OP-X PRO-3 max CPU version just with with a changed name and unique plugin-id in order to be able to install alongside
one of the OP-X PRO-3 versions. This allows you to have the max CPU version installed alongside one of the lower CPU versions to have
both options available at the same time ansd allows you to e.g. use OP-X PRO-3 ECO for one sound and OP-MTX for an other sound if you need
the smoother sound engine.
CPU use about the same as OP-X PRO-II
On the interface / GUI the 4 versions only differentiate regarding the DMP (brightness), 24db (lopass filter types) and mod-matrix controls.
Hover the mouse above the pics above to see the spotted out differences on the GUI.
These offered options all within the same license should make the synth interesting for everyone.
